75 Tickets Issued During DuPage Sheriff's July 4 Traffic Crackdown
DuPage County Sheriff's deputies issued 75 tickets during a traffic crackdown that took place June 16 through July 5.
WHEATON, IL — DuPage County Sheriff's deputies doled out 75 traffic tickets for distracted driving, speeding and other violations during increased patrols that spanned the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
In total, police issued the following citations during the safety campaign, which :
- 34 speeding tickets
- Four distracted driving tickets
- 12 tickets for failure to yield to a stop sign
- Nine tickets for operating a car without insurance
- Six tickets for driving with expired plates
- Four seatbelt tickets
- Three tickets for driving with improper lighting
- Two tickets for driving a commercial truck without safety certification
- Single citations for the following: child safety seat violations, traffic control violations, no license plate and failing to dim headlights
The increased patrols in DuPage County were part of a statewide effort that involved over 200 law enforcement agencies and was made possible with funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
