The Wheaton Municipal Band goes dancing on Thursday, July 10, at 8:00 p.m. in Memorial Park in downtown Wheaton. This popular event, “Dancing in the Park”, gets everyone up on their feet and swaying to the music.
Come early, at 6:30 p.m. when Edward “Sarge” Sargent and his troupe from DeSarge Danceworld (Naperville) teach the Tango. It doesn’t matter if you have two left feet or are the runner up to “Dancing with the Stars.” Everyone can burn up the dance floor in front of the band shell.
The music for the 8:00 p.m. concert focuses on all types of dances. The DeSarge Danceworld dancers will demonstrate the Tango to Leroy Anderson’s “Blue Tango”. The audience is then invited to show off what they learned during the pre-concert class and join in for a dance or two. “Mambo Greats” is new to the Wheaton Municipal Band repertoire. Other selections include “Marvin Hamlisch Showcase” and “Slavonic Dances” by Dvorak.
