Alleged Threat To School In Wheaton: Cops Find No Evidence So Far
Police are urging anyone with information about the school threat to come forward.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton Police continue to investigate an "alleged threat of violence" made against St. Francis High School via social media, according to a letter from the school that was shared on the city's website early Monday. As of Monday evening, police said there they have not "found any credible evidence of a threat of violence.
Police are also urging anyone with information to come forward.
The alleged threat implied that an act of violence would occur "later this week," the post from school President Dr. Betsy Ackerson read. Ackerson added that school will remain in session as scheduled Monday.

Ackerson wrote, "At this point there is no reason to cancel school tomorrow (Monday, August 27th) for compromised safety." She reassured parents that the chair and vice chair of the school board are aware of the situation and that the school is cooperating with the active investigation led by Wheaton Police.
"Please be assured that our first and highest priority is the safety and well-being of your children, our students, the faculty, staff, and volunteers at St. Francis High School," Ackerson wrote, adding that she would update parents with any new developments.

The alleged threat comes just after a suspected gunman killed three people and himself at a 'Madden NFL '19' video game tournament at a mall in Jacksonville, Florida.
