WHEATON, IL — A 18-year-old man was fatally injured in a crash with an SUV while riding his motorcycle in Wheaton Tuesday morning.
Police say the crash took place just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of Butterfield Road and Briarcliffe Boulevard. The motorcyclist sustained "severe injuries" and was rushed to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died. As of Tuesday evening, the victim's identity had not been made available.
The crash closed traffic on Butterfield Road in both directions, so the Wheaton Police Department and DuPage County's M.E.R.I.T Major Crash Reconstruction Team could perform an investigation. Traffic reopened at 3:30 p.m.
City officials said in an update that the investigation is ongoing and "all involved parties are currently cooperating."
As of 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Wheaton Police Chief Bill Murphy told Patch no additional information was available yet regarding the crash.
