Dzugan To Retire As City Manager Of Wheaton

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton City Manager Michael Dzugan is set to retire after 35 years working for the city.

Dzugan became city manager in 2016 after having served as Wheaton's assistant city manager since 1991.

While announcing Dzugan's retirement, city officials praised his "thoughtful, dedicated service and forward-thinking decision-making."

"During his tenure as City Manager, the City completed a revitalization of the downtown, helping spur economic development activity," they wrote, "He also led the City through the COVID-19 pandemic, finding ways to provide uninterrupted service to the community and implementing tools to make City government more accessible and convenient."

The role of city manager will be filled by Raymond Munch, who will be appointed at the June 6 City Council meeting.

Munch's experience includes nearly 24 years working in local government roles. He recently served as Naperville's Director of Finance and has served as Assistant City Manager and Interim City Manager for the City of DeKalb. Prior to that, Munch was a member of the Glen Ellyn Police Department.
