WHEATON, IL — A pedestrian was hit by a Union Pacific freight train in downtown Wheaton Thursday morning.
The incident took place just after 9:40 a.m. near Cross and Front Streets, Metra representative Meg Thomas-Reile told Patch.
The investigation halted train travel until just after 11 a.m.
A Metra spokesperson had initially told Patch there was a fatality reported. That spokesperson issued a correction to Patch, saying the pedestrian had been taken to Loyola Hospital and their condition was unknown.
