WHEATON, IL — There are less than two weeks of summer left until students head back to school. Back-to-school planning has already begun at Community Unit School District 200, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the 2026-2027 school year.
The first day of school is set for Aug. 14 for all District 200 students, grades one through 12. Kindergarteners start school on Aug. 17 and early childhood classes begin Aug. 18.
Here's a look at some dates to know for the upcoming school year:

Sept. 7: Labor Day; no school
Sept. 25 Institute Day; no school
Oct. 9: Parent-teacher conferences; no school
Oct. 12: Indigenous Peoples Day; no school
Nov. 2: Institute Day; no school
Nov. 3: Election Day; e-learning
Nov. 23-Nov. 27: Thanksgiving recess
Dec. 23 - Jan. 5: Winter Break
Jan. 6: No School
Jan. 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day; no school
Feb. 15: Presidents' Day; no school
