Stolen Tequila, Facebook Marketplace Scam, More: Wheaton Crime Blotter

WHEATON, IL — Tequila was stolen from a store, a resident was the victim of a Facebook Marketplace scam and other crimes were reported on the most recent blotter from the Wheaton Police Department.

Coffee Shop Vandalized with Fire Extinguisher

Police say someone sprayed a fire extinguisher throughout the interior of Platform Coffee on 303 N. President St. The incident took place between 7 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 3.

Caller Posed as DuPage County Sheriff's Office

A resident received a phone call on Aug. 3 around 2 p.m. from someone who falsely claimed to be with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. The caller convinced the resident to send them money.

Retail Theft at Mariano's

A man came into the Mariano's at 625 S. Main St. around 9 a.m. on Aug. 4 and stole a bottle of tequila and other merchandise.

Facebook Marketplace Theft

Police say a resident sent money via Facebook Marketplace to buy a car on Aug. 4. It was later discovered that the account claiming to sell the car was fraudulent.
