Car Burglary, Retail Theft, Cyber Fraud: Wheaton Crime Blotter

WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton Police Department responded to reports of a car burglary, retail theft and cyber fraud, according to its most recent crime blotter.

Car Burglarized in 100 Block of West Park Circle

Someone got into an unlocked car while it was parked in the 100 block of West Park Circle and stole a disabled parking permit. The burglary took place sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 20 and 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 21.

Retail Theft at Target

Police were called to the Target at 601 County Farm Rd. around 1 p.m. on Aug. 26 for a report of a retail theft. Employees said a man came into the store and took food items without paying.

Cyber Fraud Incident

A resident in the 200 block of Naperville Road told police they had been targeted in a cyber fraud scheme on Facebook. Police say the victim told them someone used their informaiton to access money and open fraudulent accounts. The incident took place Aug. 27.

Email Fraud

Police say someone hacked into the email of a resident who lives in the 1600 block of Wadham Place. The resident said the hacker stole gift cards that had been sent electronically via CaringBridge.
