WHEATON, IL — Once Halloween has passed, you can recycle those old jack-o'-lanterns at an upcoming Pumpkin Smash in Wheaton.
The event, hosted via a partnership with SCARCE, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Commuter Parking Lot 9, which is located at Carlton Avenue and Liberty Drive. The pumpkins will be smashed onsite and then later composted.
SCARCE, which stands for School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education, helped compost more than 200 tons of pumpkins in 2025 via pumpkin smash events in and around DuPage County. Not in Wheaton? Click the link to find a SCARCE pumpkin smash near you.
