A special announcement shared Tuesday night on Wheaton Yard's Facebook page said the gun was an antique firearm that was worn as part of a Halloween costume at a private event.

According to Wheaton police, officers were called to the 100 block of East Front Street around 9:07 p.m. after a gun discharged. They told Patch a nearby patron was hit in the thigh, taken to a local hospital and released.

Police say the man with the gun had a valid Illinois Concealed Carry License. In addition to the reckless conduct charge, he was charged with a violation of the Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act.

This is a developing story; check back for updates.
