Annual Holiday Shopping Event to Benefit Local Ministry
The Wheaton Franciscan Sisters' ministry, Upendo Village, is holding a unique holiday shopping event that is not to be missed!

WHO: Upendo Village, NFP – A Ministry of Wheaton Franciscan Services, Inc.
WHAT: Annual Holiday Bazaar to benefit the people of Upendo Village. This unique shopping event is a great way to kick-off the holiday shopping season. The event features handmade crafts by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters, handmade crafts made by the clients of Upendo Village in Naivasha, Kenya, a bake sale, and a rummage sale of great second-hand finds that have been donated by the surrounding community. All proceeds from this event are donated to Upendo Village to help support general operations of their life-saving ministry giving love, care and resources to people living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya.

WHERE: The Our Lady of the Angels Motherhouse – Promenade, 26W171 Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187
WHY: This event is open to the public. All are welcome to start their holiday shopping at Upendo Village’s Annual Holiday Bazaar. Gifts bought here will bring joy to those who receive them as well as to needy families across the globe. All proceeds from this event will help make a positive impact on the lives of Upendo Village’s clients, people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS in Naivasha, Kenya.

Wares that have been created and donated by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters include knitted blankets and accessories, card sets, plants, art, Christmas decorations, baby blankets and hats, and much more! The crafts made by Upendo Village include unique beaded animals, jewelry and accessories. A wide array of items from the surrounding community to be sold for Upendo Village’s benefit always provides a treasure trove for people looking for unique or nostalgic gifts.
NOTE: This event was featured on Windy City Live last year and has been a community favorite for the past several years.
ABOUT UPENDO VILLAGE:
Upendo Village is located in Naivasha, Kenya and operates with a clinic, community center and staff house providing resources and support for more than 7,500 people per month affected by HIV/AIDS. Clients are surrounded with loving care, and are given resources and access to programs that improve health, restore self-respect and give hope. Upendo Village, created in 2002 with the dedicated and loving partnership of The Wheaton Franciscan Community and The Assumption Sisters of Nairobi, is an Illinois 501(c)(3) corporation responsible for fund raising and professional oversight of operations.
