Are You Causing Your Own Bad Hair Day?

You could be, if you’re wrapping your wet hair in a towel.

Just like the shampoo bottle instructs, I will repeat: Do not wrap your wet hair in a towel before styling!

If you start your styling routine with a thirsty towel, you’re just begging for a bad hair day. I know it is a cozy habit to step out of the shower and into the thickest of terrycloth. My advice? Stop at the robe.

Wrapping your wet hair in a towel dries and kinks it.

Wrapping your wet hair in a towel exaggerates natural cowlicks.

Wrapping your wet hair in a towel just creates naughty hair. Even after you comb it out, this hair will misbehave. Applying product will make it crunchy, not tame. Wrapping wet hair in a towel is a bad foundational habit that even the best blow dry can’t completely cure.

Instead? BLOT. BLOT. BLOT.

Blot your hair dry with a towel to absorb the moisture. Next, comb it out the way you want it to look after styling. Then go about your business of lotioning, flossing, dressing. When you finally return to the business of styling, proceed as usual. And vow to resist future temptations to sabotage your hair with a towel!
