3 Days Of Oktoberfest-Style, Autumn Fun At Cantigny Fall Festival

WHEATON, IL — An eight-foot tower made of mums, hay rides, fire pits, live music, jugglers, a Biergarten and other fun activities will come to Wheaton for the Cantigny Fall Festival Oct. 13 through Oct. 15.

Photo opportunities will abound during each day of the festival, especially at the mum tower, a tree-like structure made up of 120 mums.

“This year’s Fall Festival will be our biggest ever—a full weekend instead of the usual one day," Cantigny's Senior Manager of Communication told Patch.

He added, "I think adults will especially like the evening events on Friday and Saturday, which we’ve never offered before. We’re aiming for a true Oktoberfest look and feel under a big tent, with beer, German food and entertainment. Outside the tent will be fire pits, Adirondack chairs and oversized yard games.”

Below is a roundup of the festivities planned for this three-day family-friendly fest.

Oct. 13

Hours: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Eight beers will be on tap in the festival Biergarten, where DJ tunes and a live band will set the mood. Fire pits will offer a place to unwind when you're not playing lawn games or socializing.

The Biergarten will be open Saturday and Sunday as well.

Oct. 14

Hours: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Family-oriented activities will be available until 4 p.m., including bounce houses, a craft fair, a petting zoo, hayrides and a pumpkin patch.

Entertainment will be as follows:

10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Stilt walker, Jimmy's Bavarians playing live music

12 p.m. to 1 p.m.: Jeannie B. performs a concert for kids

12:35 p.m. to 1:10 p.m.: Juggling and comedy show

1 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Jimmy's Bavarian performing live music

1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Performer makes giant bubbles

7 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Live music from Howl2Go

Oct. 15

Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 pm.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
