Biz Books Review at Wheaton Public Library (Tues., Dec. 16 at 8am)

The Wheaton Public Library hosts the growing business book discussion group, Biz Books Review, led by business coach Vickie Austin.

Do you love business books but you’re often pressed for time to read? Join business and career coach Vickie Austin at the Wheaton Public Library every third Tuesday of the month at 8:00 am for Biz Books Review. Vickie will highlight business books for busy executives, employees and entrepreneurs.

This month’s book, Smarter Than You Think: How Technology Is Changing Our Minds for the Better by Clive Thompson, will fill you with hope that the digital world is giving us a platform for sharing ideas and a global mindset rather than “dumbing us down.” Mr. Thompson, a contributing writer for New York Times Magazine and a columnist for Wired, reassures us that our fears about technology mirror the same concerns Socrates had about the written word.

With progress comes change, and the changes in our millennium open new opportunities for discourse, for connecting and using technology to our advantage. Through story with a lilting tone of optimism, Smarter Than You Think will assure you that computers need us as much as we need computers.

From the hottest best-sellers to time-honored classics, Vickie will share each book’s essence to give you new ideas, inspiration and insights for your own business and career. And she’ll include you in a lively discussion, whether or not you’ve had time to read the book.

Bring your morning coffee or tea and come to the library’s main entrance at 8am (the library will open early to accommodate attendees). This program is co-sponsored by the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Prairie Path Books, and CHOICES Worldwide. No registration required.
