CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL MIGRATORY BIRD DAY
Discover one of nature’s sensational seasonal events during the “International Migratory Bird Day Celebration” at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Willowbrook Wildlife Center in Glen Ellyn on Saturday, May 11.
The event will feature a variety of free activities for kids and adults throughout the morning.
• Bird Walk for Adults, 8 – 9:30 a.m. This naturalist-led hike will search for feathered jewels during the peak of warbler migration. Ages 18 and up.
• Bird Walk for Beginners, 9 – 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn the basics of bird-watching and species identification in Willowbrook’s Back 40 nature area. Ages 12 and up; under 18 with an adult.
• Bird-Banding Demonstration, 9 – 11 a.m. See how ecologists band birds and how banding helps scientists worldwide. Ages 12 and up; under 18 with an adult.
• Kids Activity Station, 10 a.m. – noon. This seek-and-find activity will develop the bird-identification skills of budding naturalists.
• Kids Bird Walk, 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. Kids can tag along with a naturalist to learn tips for bird-watching. Ages 8 and up; under 18 with an adult.

Willowbrook Wildlife Center, 525 S. Park Blvd., provides care and medical treatment for injured and orphaned native wildlife and presents wildlife-related exhibits, programs and resources. It is open daily (except major holidays) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
