TAKE A “DAY AT THE FARM” FIELD TRIP BACK IN TIME

TAKE A "DAY AT THE FARM" FIELD TRIP BACK IN TIME

School and home-schooled groups, bring your students to Kline Creek Farm, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s 1890s living-history farm in West Chicago, to discover life as it was over 100 years ago. Join the new edition of the “Day at the Farm Field Trip” offered on
March 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“Many students have experienced this award-winning program during its May and October sessions, and they’ll have a chance to participate in several other aspects of farm life during this new March session,” says Keith McClow, manager of Kline Creek Farm. Students will see Southdown ewes and their young lambs; they’ll help shell corn that will feed cows, sheep and chickens; and they’ll check out the tools used to prepare the fields for planting. Children will even get a chance to see how trees are tapped to make maple syrup. “The program offers a great chance for students to take part in a number of hands-on activities and to experience what children’s lives were like in the 1890s,” says McClow.
“Day at the Farm Field Trip” is open to ages 6 – 12 accompanied by an adult and costs $5 per student. Kline Creek Farm is located at 1N600 County Farm Road in West Chicago. For more information or to register, call the farm at 630-876-5900.
