TAKE AN “APRIL FOOLS’ ADVENTURE” AT KLINE CREEK FARM
TAKE AN "APRIL FOOLS' ADVENTURE" AT KLINE CREEK FARM
At Kline Creek Farm, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s 1890s living-history farm in West Chicago, visitors gain insight to our county’s agricultural heritage through demonstrations of farm life. But during the farm’s “April Fools’ Adventure” on Monday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., they’ll experience a day of tomfoolery and pranks designed to entertain and inform farm fans of all ages.
From the barn to the farmhouse parlor, visitors will find puns, jokes and items that are simply out of place. Even the costumed guides may be trying to pull one over on the public and testing their knowledge of history in the process. Visitors will learn the truth behind the rumors of the spandex fashion craze at the turn of the century, the 100-pound chicken raised at the farm and the odd birds in the farm’s orchard.
“Visitors should wear their history hats and bring their sense of humor to the seek-and-find challenge to locate the many items that only show up at the farm on April Fools’ Day,” says staff member Dennis Buck, the program’s coordinator.
Registration is not required for the free “April Fools’ Adventure” event. Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday. Admission is free. For information on the farm, call 630-876-5900 or visit dupageforest.org/klinecreekfarm.
