Car Plows Into Carol Stream Home, Driver Hospitalized

Police say the driver was hospitalized, but no one inside the home was harmed.

CAROL STREAM, IL — A car crashed into a Carol Stream home early Wednesday, sending its driver to the hospital and leaving the home severely damaged. Carol Stream Police said the crash took place at approximately 9:46 a.m. in the 500 block of Delaware Trail.

One resident was home when the car drove into the house, but the occupant was uninjured, police say.

The driver of the 2008 Mercury allegedly first struck a parked car in a driveway in the 800 block of Wabash before smashing through part of the Delaware Trail house's brick facade, according to preliminary information from police.

Photos obtained from the Carol Stream Police Department's Facebook show the front half of the car in what appears to be the living room of the home. The back end of the vehicle can be seen hanging outside the home.

The vehicle's driver is currently undergoing treatment at Central DuPage Hospital. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
