WHEATON, IL — Wheaton City Council will review a special use permit request to open a Mister Car Wash location at the former site of a McDonald's at 2175 W. Roosevelt Rd.

The proposal was first recommended by the city's planning and zoning board in October 2025. City council members initially denied the permit request in May 2026, as they deemed the design did not meet the established Roosevelt Road landscape.

A new site plan dated April 22 complies with the landscape requirements, according to city documents.

The 4,800 square foot development would comprise a business office, a car wash tunnel, 21 vacuum stations for customers and three parking spaces for employees. An eight foot wall would be built near the end of the car wash tunnel to help mitigate noise.

If approved, the Mister Car Wash location will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Developers would raze the vacant McDonald's building to accommodate construction.
