National Senior Fraud Awareness Day Today

National Senior Fraud Awareness Day Today

Today is an important reminder to help protect the seniors in our communities from scams, fraud, and financial exploitation.

Unfortunately, scammers often target older adults through phone calls, emails, text messages, fake Medicare offers, identity theft schemes, and other deceptive tactics. Staying informed and aware is one of the best ways to prevent fraud before it happens.

Here are a few important reminders for seniors and their families:

- Never give personal or Medicare information to unknown callers

- Be cautious of high-pressure sales tactics or “too good to be true” offers

- Verify businesses and organizations before sharing information

- Talk to a trusted family member or professional if something feels suspicious

- Regularly review Medicare statements and financial accounts for unusual activity

As someone who works closely with seniors and retirees, I believe education and community support play a huge role in helping protect individuals from fraud and scams.

Let’s continue looking out for one another, spreading awareness, and helping seniors feel informed, confident, and safe.

Stay alert. Stay informed. Stay protected.
