The lawsuit states that Cyplick had parked her car in the lot at the high school on Jan. 21, 2014. As she was walking from the parking lot to the school building, she encountered a pile of snow between the curb and sidewalk.

Wishing to avoid stepping in the snow, she stepped over the pile to reach the sidewalk on the other side. There she encountered an area of broken pavement which caused her to lose her footing and fall, the lawsuit maintains.

Cyplick alleges that Dist. 87 and Glenbard East improperly operated, managed and maintained the parking lot and sidewalk.

The district and high school also failed to repair the broken pavement.

By neglecting to plow and remove the snow from the parking lot, as well as fixing the broken pavement, Cyplick sustained personal and permanent injuries, and incurred medical costs, the complaint states.

Cyplick is asking for damages in excess of $50,000.

Her case is being represented by attorneys Timothy P. Rhatigan and Daniel J. Biderman Jr.
