When I read "The City of Wheaton received a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety, to fund this holiday enforcement effort." my reaction is to grab my other pocket. Now I know the city looks at it as new money. And I know the city made money on all those tickets they wrote. But, does it actually save any lives? Or is it just big brother pushing people around because they can?
I really wish government agencies would stop taking grants from other government agencies.
1. It is still TAXPAYER money.
2. It always comes with strings attached.
3. If it is not worth spending their own budget, it is not worth doing.
