Commission Seeks Stocking Stuffers for Children of Army Battalion

The Community Relations Commission is collecting items to fill stockings for children of the adopted battalion's soldiers.

The Community Relations Commission is asking for the community’s help to honor the City’s adopted Army Battalion, “The Big Red One,” and make their holidays a little brighter.

The commission is collecting items to fill stockings for children of the adopted battalion’s soldiers.

Some of the items that the commission is collecting include:

  • Candy
  • Gum
  • New books
  • Small toys
  • Games that will fit in a stocking

You can drop off items in the collection boxes located at City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., or at the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St. The collection concludes on Veterans Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014.

The commission also seeks businesses or citizens who would like to help fund 850 workout T-shirts for the soldiers in the battalion. Donations can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., payable to “Community Relations Commission Escrow.” Donations are due by Nov. 11.
