'Secure And Teach' Lifted After Swatting Incident At Wheaton North High School
Five schools had been put on "secure and teach" after a false threat was made to the high school Friday morning.

WHEATON, IL — Police have lifted the "secure and teach" that was in effect at five schools in Wheaton after a swatting incident at Wheaton North High School Friday morning. According to police, an individual had called 9-1-1 saying someone was "coming to the school with weapons," a news release said.
Around 9:30 a.m., the high school had been placed on a "secure and teach" lockdown. As of 10:45 a.m., Hawthorne, Longfellow, Sandburg and Washington Elementary Schools were also "on a secure and teach out of an abundance of caution."
After a "systematic search" of Wheaton North, police determined there was "no evidence of a threat to the safety of students or staff."

"This type of false threat will not be tolerated in our community," the news release said, adding that the police department will work to pursue criminal charges "where appropriate."
