CUSD200 - waiver for tax on special needs home

Under action items for the CUSD200, Feb 12, 2014 meeting is a request for a $6,645 fee waiver for Stars Family Services, Inc. (SFS).  Bill Farley - Assist. Superintendent is recommending that the board deny this.  Last year we were told that special needs pre-schoolers needed a new building and were made to feel heartless if we disagreed.  Now, the school district cannot afford the equivalent of one semester for one student to help special needs adults.  Who is heartless?
Sas is currently building two facilities in Wheaton, which will provide housing for adult individuals with intellectual disabilities. The housing includes adults twenty-one (21) and older.  By ordinance, Developer Donations are assessed to offset the cost of the development to local taxing bodies.  The cost of this facility on the school should be minimal and they have requested a waiver.  In my opinion, this is one group we should help with this one-time request.
