Deadline Nears To Apply For Citizens Police Academy In Wheaton

Residents have until June 30 to sign up to take part in a 10-week Citizens Police Academy in Wheaton.

WHEATON, IL — The June 30 deadline is drawing near for Wheaton residents to apply to take part in an upcoming Citizens Police Academy to learn more about what it's like behind the scenes at the Wheaton Police Department.

The free 10-week course includes lectures, discussions and interactive lessons that delve into police operations. Students will learn about investigations, forensics, traffic enforcement and more.

Classes will meet on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 6 through Nov. 8 and will be held at the Wheaton Police Department, 900 W. Liberty Dr. and other nearby venues.

To take part in the Wheaton Citizens Police Academy, applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Wheaton. Classes will be limited to 20 people.
