District 200 Schools Make Upgrades, Add New Bleachers and Roofing

WHEATON, IL - During the summer months, capital projects have been completed throughout District 200 schools to enhance learning both inside and outside of the classroom, according to a District 200 press release.

Some of the capital projects from the summer include:

  • New roofing at Monroe and Sandburg
  • New mulch and playing surfaces on elementary playgrounds
  • Tuckpointing and concrete work at Whittier
  • Seal coating on parking lots
  • Repainting the field house floor at Wheaton North High School
  • A/C compressors at Franklin and Wheaton North High School

The floor in the main gym at Wheaton Warrenville South was due for its 10-year sanding and re-striping. School officials took the opportunity to also replace the 42-year old bleachers in the gym at the same time

Local vendors generously donated their time to regrade the varsity softball field and re-install the irrigation system at Wheaton Warrenville South.

"The (school) board's $1.5 million commitment to enhancing learning environments around District 200 has helped make our buildings ready to welcome back students on August 17," according to a District 200 Friday Focus on Learning newsletter.
