Downers Grove Cleaning Woman Stole Ring From Wheaton Home: Cops
Police say Joanna Jarosz, 32, stole the diamond ring while cleaning her client's home.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL -- A Downers Grove woman faces felony charges of residential burglary for allegedly stealing a diamond ring from a home she was cleaning in Wheaton. Police say Joanna Jarosz, 32, of the 7300 block of Winthrop Way, turned herself in to police early Thursday for a warrant that had been issued on Jan. 16 in connection with the incident.
Police say that on Oct. 7, 2018, a Wheaton resident alerted the police department that a diamond ring had been stolen from her home sometime between Oct. 2 and Oct. 7. A warrant was issued for Jarosz's arrest after an investigation that led authorities to believe Jarosz may have stolen the ring while cleaning the home on Oct. 2.
Wheaton Police Chief William Murphy said in a statement that he was "proud" of the officers who handled the investigation. Murphy said, "Our officers take pride in the fact that Wheaton is one of the safest places to live in Illinois."

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said of the alleged incident, "While hiring a cleaning service can be a great help and time-saver, people must also remember that they are letting unsupervised people in their home. Protect yourself and your belongings by asking questions before hiring. Ask about work experience, the amount of insurance they carry, if any, and don’t be afraid to ask for references."
Jarosz is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27.
