Dozens Of Drivers Ticketed During Holidays In DuPage County

Drivers were ticketed for speeding, distracted driving and other violations during the sheriff's office's most recent safety campaign.

WHEATON, IL — Dozens of drivers were ticketed during a recent traffic safety campaign conducted by the DuPage County Sheriff's Office during the winter holidays.

The following citations were issued:

  • 30 speeding tickets
  • Seven stop sign tickets
  • Five tickets for driving without insurance
  • Five distracted driving tickets
  • Three tickets for failing to obey a traffic control device
  • Two tickets for driving without license plates
  • Two tickets for driving with expired license plates
  • Two tickets for driving without a valid license
  • Two tickets for invalid registration
  • One seatbelt ticket
  • Five tickets for failure to signal, improperly turning and other violations

“We can’t stress this enough: Impaired driving is illegal, potentially deadly behavior, and it puts the driver, passengers, and all road users at risk,” DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in news release.

The holiday crackdown was part of the statewide "Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over" campaign, which is funded in part by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
