Driver Dozes Behind The Wheel, Slams Into Cop Car In Carol Stream: Police
A man fell asleep while driving in Carol Stream Sunday, crashing into a cop car and injuring two officers.

CAROL STREAM, IL — A driver who nodded off behind the wheel Sunday was jarred awake to find he had slammed into a Carol Stream police SUV. The squad car had just made a traffic stop and was on the side of the road near the intersection or North Avenue and Schmale Road at approximately 6:46 p.m. when the driver plowed into the vehicle. The force of the crash forced the police car to rear-end the car the officers had stopped, according to Chicago Sun-Times.
Only minor injuries occurred during the crash. The involved officers, along with the passenger and driver of the other parked car, were taken to Winfield's Central DuPage Hospital. The man who fell asleep behind the wheel of his car was treated at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.
The accident is still under investigation, but the man has been charged with several traffic violations, including failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, improper lane usage, and driving without insurance.
