DuPage Co. Asks Adult Businesses For Input Before Regulations

The county can't ban so-called "adult businesses," but it hopes to regulate them.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL -- As a panel of DuPage County Board members prepares to vote on regulations for "adult businesses," they're hoping to get some feedback from the adult businesses themselves. The county has gotten no shortage of input from residents and other businesses who take issue with adult services, but plans to hear testimony from the owners of the establishments in question, Daily Herald reports.

The six-person panel began its research into how adult businesses affect the community in January. The county is unable to fully ban adult businesses due to its lack of home-rule status, but is able to impose regulations that range from requiring a special business license to restricting where the businesses operate.

At press time, members of the panel had reached out to two adult businesses in Roselle and to Hot Shots Photography in Wheaton, which was recently involved in a lawsuit alleging it was a cover for escort services.
