DuPage County Cops Dole Out 66 Tickets For Memorial Day Crackdown

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued 66 tickets during a "Click It or Ticket" crackdown for the Memorial Day holiday.

WHEATON, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued 66 citations as part of a recent "Click It or Ticket" crackdown during the Memorial Day holiday.

Tickets were issued and arrests were made for the following citations during this period of increased enforcement:

  • Three tickets for seat belt violations
  • 38 speeding tickets
  • Eight tickets for distracted driving
  • Five tickets for driving without insurance
  • Three tickets for stop sign violations
  • Three tickets for expired registration
  • Two tickets for driving with a suspended or revoked license
  • One driver was cited for driving without a valid license, having a suspended registration, improper lane usage and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle

“Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts and child safety restraints save lives,” DuPage County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Justin Kmitch said in a news release.

The statewide "Click It or Ticket" campaign is made possible with federal highway safety funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
