DuPage County Coronavirus Update: 5,622 Cases, 285 Deaths

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — As of Friday, the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) reports 5,622 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 285 deaths. The numbers include 165 new cases since Thursday. County officials say the number of positive cases is "likely much higher" due to cases that are "unreported or untested."
County health officials said seven coronavirus-related deaths were reported since Thursday. The DCHD did not include information about where those who died had been living or whether they had underlying conditions. They are:
- A man in his 60s
- Two men in their 70s
- Three women in their 80s
- A man in his 90s
The news comes as cases in Illinois reach 90,369. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 4,058 as of Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The county's system of reporting shows confirmed coronavirus cases in age groups from 0 through 9 years old to 80 and older. It also includes a breakdown of cases by municipality.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office directed Patch to the DuPage County Health Department for a breakdown of deaths by city, but the health department said it is not releasing that information as of press time.
According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. Here is the age breakdown as of Friday afternoon.
- 0-9 years old: 77
- 10-19 years old: 184
- 20-29 years old: 764
- 30-39 years old: 893
- 40-49 years old: 942
- 50-59 years old: 961
- 60-69 years old: 746
- 70-79 years old: 446
- 80 years old and older: 609
