DuPage County’s New 211 Services Available 24 Hours A Day

DuPage County's 211 number offers residents 24-hour access to connect them with services to help with mental health, substance use disorders

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — DuPage County recently introduced a 211 number to offer 24-hour phone service giving residents access referrals for help with mental health issues, crisis counseling, substance use disorders, shelter, food insecurity and other needs.

Here’s a quick rundown of services DuPage County’s 211 number can help residents access:

  • Dental services
  • Disability services
  • Disaster services
  • Educational services
  • Employment
  • Food
  • Health and wellness services
  • Housing assistance
  • Income support
  • Legal aid
  • Mental health services
  • Public safety
  • Senior services
  • Transportation
  • Veterans services

This new 24-hour service comes after DuPage County received more than 38,000 inquiries about help with food, housing, utilities and other concerns in 2021.

“We are thrilled to make help available to our residents on a 24/7, 365 basis,” DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin said in a statement.

He added, “Now at any hour of the day or night, in DuPage County you can dial 211 and talk to a trained support specialist who will listen and connect you to the appropriate resource tailored for each caller’s specific needs.”

The 24-hour hotline was made possible via a federal $1.6 million grant from the County from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) anbd a partnership with the Village of Addison. The latter will help dispatch calls.

Rich Veenstra, Mayor of Addison, commented, “It’s a privilege for our Addison Consolidated Dispatch Center to serve the DuPage region by providing another access point to critical services and programs.”
