DuPage Deputies Spread Holiday Cheer At 'Shop With A Cop' Event
Deputies from DuPage County Sheriff's Office treated local children to gifts from Meijer in Glen Ellyn for the Shop with a Cop event.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Deputies from DuPage County Sheriff's Office brightened the holiday season for local children during a Shop with a Cop event Dec. 4. The event, which was organized with the help of DuPage FOP Lodge 109, kicked off with a cop car parade before making its way to Meijer to spread some holiday cheer.
The deputies were joined by suburban police officers early Saturday in a caravan of flashing lights and sirens that headed from Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center in Glen Ellyn to the Meijer store. At Meijer, deputies teamed up with children who received $125 from the FOP Lodge to use to buy holiday gifts for themselves or their loved ones.
Close to 60 kids took part in the special event, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office told Patch. After the holiday shopping was through, the kids and deputies went to Wayne Township and wrapped their gifts with the help of volunteers.
