DuPage Election Commission 'Deeply Regrets' Vote Count Delay
The Election Commission's technical problem delayed vote counts well into the next morning.

WHEATON, IL — Members of the Dupage County Election Commission say they "deeply regret" the technical issue that led to hours-long delays in vote counts during the March 20 primary election. In the public statement, officials said the delay was caused by " an outside vendor’s printing of an 'Ender Card' form which did not conform with the printing bid specifications.
An "ender card" is a card that is used to close out voting in an election.
The Election Commission said the issue "did not affect any voter's ability to cast a ballot at the polls, nor did it affect the count of ballots processed at the polling place, the memory cards, or the integrity of the process."

Officials say the Election Commission has used an "ender card" since 2001. In that time, they say they have never had any prior technical problems with the "ender card."
In the statement, the Election Commission apologized to voters, elected officials, and election judges, who put in longer hours due to the delay. The Election Commission vowed to prevent this issue in the future, calling the delay, "unacceptable."
