DuPage Jail Earns Accreditation For Health Care Services
DuPage County Jail received accreditation for complying with standards set by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.

WHEATON, IL — DuPage County Jail recently earned accreditation from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) for its health care services.
The recognition comes after the correctional facility was reviewed by doctors and other health care professionals on 59 standards that included patient care, health promotion, special needs services, disease prevention and more.
“Having this designation translates to the outside world that we are meeting the standards and we are continuously working toward improving the health status’ of our inmate population while also reducing the health risk to the community when an incarcerated person is released,” Nury Marcelo, Director of Nursing at DuPage County Jail said in a statement.

DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick added, "We have a constitutional obligation to provide health care to those incarcerated in our jail, and we are committed to doing so with innovation, excellence, and efficiency. I salute the health care staff, custody staff, and leadership for their hard work and dedication on behalf of our patients."
Founded in 1983, the NCCHC aims to improve standards of health care throughout U.S. correctional facilities.
