DuPage Named Healthiest County In Illinois: Study
DuPage County snagged the top spot on a new list of the healthiest counties in Illinois.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — If you live in DuPage County, you'll be glad to know you live in the healthiest county in Illinois, according to a recent study. For 2018, DuPage was ranked #1 on the list of 102 counties released by County Health Rankings and Road Maps.
Kendall County came in 2nd, Kane County was 7th, Will County was 9th, and Cook County slid in at #52.
County Health Rankings uses data from national studies and sources that include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Center for Health Statistics. Each county is evaluated and scored in eight different categories:

- Overall Health Outcomes
- Length of life
- Quality of life
- Overall Health Factors
- Health behaviors
- Clinical care
- Social and economic factors
- Physical environment
Of these weighted categories, DuPage County got the top spot for overall health outcomes and behaviors, length of life, and specific health behaviors. DuPage ranked second overall for socioeconomic factors, third for clinical care, and 93rd for physical environment.
DuPage was ranked the healthiest county in 2016, but lost that spot to Monroe County in the 2017 rankings.
