Emmett's Brewing Company Earns Bronze Medal At Great American Beer Festival

The nationwide Great American Beer Festival gave a nod to one of the top beers at Emmett's Brewing Company in Wheaton.

WHEATON, IL — The Great American Beer Festival is one of the most elite beer competitions in the nation and Wheaton-based Emmett's Brewing Company just returned from it with a medal. The three-day competition, which was held in Denver, Colorado, this year, awarded the brewery a bronze medal for its Munich Light in the Munich-style Helles category.

Emmett's Brewing Company's Munich Light was picked from similar brews across the nation after judge's engaged in five different three-hour tasting sessions to determine the best beers in each of 96 beer-style categories. Tough job, but somebody's got to do it.

Winning beers are chosen based on how close they fit style parameters and how well they balance "taste, aroma, and appearance," according to the Great American Beer Festival website. As a bronze medal winner, Munich Light was deemed to be a "fine example" of the Munich-style Helles with only minor variations in appearance, aroma, and taste.
