The City of Wheaton, through its green initiatives, recycles approximately 4.8 tons of paper, 1,100 pounds of shell castings, 8.7 tons of cast iron, brass and copper, 897 pounds of spent lamps, 4,098 gallons of motor oil, 317 tires, as well as scrap metal and aluminum in 2011.
November 15 was proclaimed as "Wheaton Recycles Day." Residents can find ways to volunteer via the City's website.
