Female Chased By Man While Walking In Winfield: Police

Winfield police say a female was chased while she was walking near Beecher Avenue's east end Tuesday morning.

WINFIELD, IL — A female was chased by a man while she was walking near the east end of Beecher Avenue in Winfield Tuesday morning. Police are investigating the incident as an attempted abduction.

Police say a man approached her from behind and started chasing her just after 10 a.m. The man was described as a white male with dark hair and dark eyes who was between 25 and 35 years old. He was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt and dark pants with black shoes and a black hat, the woman told police.

Police say the suspect was last seen on foot on Beecher Avenue, heading westbound toward Church Street.

Residents in the area are urged to review their video surveillance from between 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, if they have a video security system. Anyone with information or who believes they saw suspicious activity is urged to contact Winfield Police Department's Corporal Caringella at 630-933-7160.

Winfield police did not immediately respond to Patch's request for more information Thursday morning.
