Figure Skating, Princesses, More Planned For Ice-A-Palooza In Wheaton

WHEATON, IL — The Central Athletic Complex in Wheaton will transform into a winter wonderland in February for the 2023 Ice-A-Palooza event, which features figure skating performances, visits from cartoon princesses, food trucks and more.

Open skating will be available during Ice-A-Palooza, but visitors must bring their own ice skates.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., kids can pose for pics during a meet-and-greet with the Ice Queen, the Snow Princess and Rusty, the mascot for Chicago Steel. Self-led outdoor games will also be available during this time, as will activities in a tent. The Ice Queen and Snow Princess will return at 11:45 a.m. to perform for guests.

At 11:15 a.m. spectators will be treated to figure skating performances by skaters from Central Ice of DuPage. Then, at 12 p.m., teams will compete in a demo hockey game.

The performances wrap up at 12:30 p.m. with a presentation by the Glen Ellyn Speed Skating Club.

Throughout the day, visitors can grab food from Curious Crow, which will have a truck onsite serving up cherry cobbler, donut holes, grilled cheese, hot cocoa and other goodies.
