Fire Pit Ashes Caused Blaze In Wheaton Garage: Fire Department
Discarded ashes from a fire pit caused a home's attached garage to catch fire late Wednesday morning, fire officials said.

WHEATON, IL — Ashes from a fire pit are to blame for a blaze that damaged a Wheaton home's attached garage and displaced a resident Wednesday morning, fire officials said in a news release.
The fire broke out in the 500 block of Robinwood just after 11:45 a.m. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within a matter of minutes. A resident was able to safely get out of the home and no one was injured, fire officials report.
After an investigation, the Wheaton Fire Department determined that the fire was linked to discarded ashes from the home's fire pit. The home was deemed uninhabitable after the blaze.
