'Go Fly A Kite' At Annual Event In Wheaton

Wheaton's Go Fly a Kite festival begins at Graf Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5.

WHEATON, IL — More than 1,000 colorful kites are expected to take flight Saturday for Wheaton's annual Go Fly a Kite festival in Graf Park Saturday. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., features concessions and kite vendors in addition to a breathtaking spectacle of kite flight.

Members of Kite Society of Illinois and Wisconsin will join the Chicago Fire Kite Team to synchronize kite demonstrations and pull off other on-site activities for residents to enjoy.

The free, family-friendly Go Fly a Kite festival is open to the public and participants are welcome to bring their own kites or to buy one at the event. Even if you don't plan to fly a kite, you can come just to sightsee or to photograph the brilliant formations as they take shape in the sky.
