Halloween Traffic Enforcement Planned In DuPage County

The sheriff's office is urging drivers and pedestrians to use caution this Halloween season.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols leading up to Halloween. The enforcement campaign aims to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.

"Heading out to a Halloween party? Before the fun starts, decide how you'll get home," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement. “Just one drink or hit can impact your ability to drive safely and make responsible decisions. Planning ahead will help keep you - and others - safe."

The sheriff’s office recommends the following measures to ensure a safe Halloween season:

1. Designate a sober driver

2. Arrange a taxi or ride share pickup

3. Do not let friends drive impaired

4. Get help walking home if you are under the influence

5. Report impaired drivers on the roadway

The Halloween safety initiative is part of the statewide effort supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
