Hate Crime Charges for Man Who Vandalized, Burglarized Two Wheaton Churches: Police
Police say Michael D. Leathe targeted Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Trinity Episcopal Church in a hate crime.

WHEATON, IL — Police have charged a man with hate crimes, burglary and institutional vandalism for reportedly vandalizing and burglarizing two churches in Wheaton. Police arrested Michael D. Leathe on Monday for allegedly committing acts of vandalism and burglary at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1753 South Blanchard, and Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 West St.
An investigation led police to suspect that Leathe specifically targeted both churches. Leathe is currently being held at DuPage County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
