Holiday Lights Contest Returns To Wheaton With New Categories

WHEATON, IL — 'Tis the season for Wheaton residents to compete in the city's annual Light Up Wheaton decorating contest. Residents can are encouraged to decorate their homes, businesses and other buildings with festive lights, garland and cheery items to ring in the holiday season and for a chance to win prizes that include gift cards to local businesses.

For 2021, the stakes have been raised even higher, with categories set for best interactive displays, outstanding creativity and best group and nonprofit displays. A People's Choice award will be available, with voting held on the Facebook pages of the City of Wheaton and the Wheaton Park District.

To participate, the entry must be located within the boundaries of Wheaton or the Wheaton Park District. A map will be available for residents who want to take a tour of all the entries.

The deadline to register for the Light Up Wheaton contest is Dec. 10. Homes will be observed by judges Dec. 11 through Dec. 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Winners will be announced on social media and via email on Dec. 20.
