Police say Dion Skinner, Jr., 24, of Wheaton, was trying to help the driver of a disabled car when he was hit by two cars on I-88.

WHEATON, IL — A Wheaton man was fatally struck by two cars while he was helping the driver of a disabled car on I-88 Monday, according to Illinois State Police (ISP). The five-car crash claimed the life of Dion Skinner, Jr., 24, and injured a 29-year-old man from Naperville.
The crash took place just before 11 p.m. around mile marker 139.5 near Elmhurst, according to a news release from ISP.
Police say Skinner had pulled over and exited his car to help the driver of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee pull over to the left shoulder of the highway. At that time, the driver of a 2017 Volkswagen Golf pulled over to avoid a crash, according to police.
