Mendrick Sworn In As New DuPage County Sheriff

James Mendrick was sworn in as the 34th Sheriff of DuPage County.

WHEATON, IL --- DuPage County officially got a new sheriff Monday evening. James Mendrick, who was elected in November, was sworn in as the 34th Sheriff of DuPage County by Judge Daniel Guerin.

Mendrick, who served in a number of capacities with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office over the last 30 years, was instrumental in helping the department get accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement (CALEA). CALEA is a nationwide program that adheres to specific standards of operations, public safety, and communication.

Sheriff Mendrick lives in Woodridge with his wife, Cyndi, and their two children. In a news release, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office said they were "exhilarated and excited to have Sheriff Mendrick at the helm."
